Gatherer: The CNIL has authorized copyright holders to collect the IP
The Hadopi starts. The beneficiaries are to be allowed to collect the IP addresses of Internet users guilty of illegal downloads.
It is the company Trident Media Guard that will be the exclusive right to collect these addresses on behalf of manufacturers.
"The CNIL, meeting (Thursday) in the Plenary Assembly has given its approval to the Civil Society of Phonogram Producers (SPPF) to perform automated collection of IP addresses of users making available illegally on P2P networks phonograms and / or music videos reported to his social repertoire, "said the company in a statement.
"The SPPF will be able, in the coming weeks, enter the Hadopi, through its sworn officers, to address that this independent authority, through the ISP concerned, the recommendations for Internet subscribers, including access was used to make available, without permission from rights holders, protected music files, "she says.
Contacted by ZDNet.fr, the CNIL confirms: it has allowed organizations of rights holders to set up a "watchdog" of the web. The company Trident Media Guard will be responsible for identifying acts of infringement and to collect the IP addresses of offenders.
There remains only one step before the first Internet "pirates" do not receive an email warning: the government must publish the decrees in the Official Gazette. To recap, the Government's objective is an implementation of the law on June 21
